Access: It’s a bit off the beaten track to get to the starting point for this hike. Heading NE from Letterbarra, follow along the road until you reach grid ref: G914 882, parking is very limited so be careful to not block access for local traffic. (OSI map 11, grid ref: G914 882)

Difficulty level: Difficult - Good level of fitness required, no defined path, wet boggy land to be expected with steep ground in some areas. Appropriate footwear and hiking equipment should be worn. Bring sufficient food / water and have a map and navigational aids at hand.

Notable features: Depending on the time of year, ground underfoot can be wet in places. There are sheep paths in places to follow, but it is important to pre-plan your climb. This route takes you along the ridgeline of some of the Bluestack hills giving the best viewing points while avoiding some of the steeper ascents. Once on the summit at 674m you will have a view of the complete Bluestack range looking over Donegal bay and surrounding areas.
Care should be taken if weather is bad and visibility poor.
