Access: Car parking is available at the Lurgabrack nature reserve (highlighted above). The road leading to the car park is easily missed so keep an eye out for a small side road.

Difficulty Level: Moderate -some short ascents. Terrain varies between forest tracks and sand dunes with a small beach section.

The walk is marked with black arrows on a green background and relatively easy to follow. After parking up, enter the nature reserve and take the first turn on your right. This is a narrow track that meanders through the forest in a northerly direction. You will then come across the marked walkway which will guide you to the coast and around the rest of the walk.

Nb. The original Mc Swynnes Gun Loop hike has been closed since 2013. Land access is no longer possible for the northern section of the original route so hikers should only attempt to complete the shorter route highlighted above. Previously printed OSI maps likely include the original route, but this should be ignored.
