Seven Sisters - Derryveagh mountains Access: The majority of people will complete this hike in a south westerly direction, starting at the Miners path at Muckish (OSI Map 2, grid ref: B998 292) and finishing at Errigal car park (OSI Map 6, grid ref: B942 197) Difficulty level: Difficult - There is a lot of ascending and descending on this hike with some extended steep climbs in sections. A good level of fitness is required, appropriate footwear and hiking equipment should be worn. * Total ascent 1671m, total descent 1787m * This hike is not signed so it will be important to pre-plan your route and bring navigational aids with you. Beginning at the miners path on Muckish and finishing at Errigal, you will take in 2 of the counties highest peaks. There are a number of steep climbs that can be taxing on the legs, notably the ascent to Aghla Beag and Errigal so be prepared for a slog at times. You will be rewarded though with some spectacular scenery and views of the Derryveagh mountains and surrounding area. After descending from Aghla Mor, you will arive in Altan farm situated on the shores of Altan lake.
