Notable features:

This is one of the tougher hikes in the county, pre-planning is essential and appropriate hiking equipment necessary. Beginning at the miners path on Muckish and finishing at Errigal, you will take in 2 of the counties highest peaks. There are a number of steep climbs that can be taxing on the legs, notably the ascent to Aghla Beag and Errigal so be prepared for a slog at times. You will be rewarded though with some spectacular scenery and views of the Derryveagh mountains and surrounding area.

After descending from Aghla Mor, you will arive in Altan farm situated on the shores of Altan lake. The old ruins offer some great photo opportunities and can be the perfect spot for a bit of wild camping for those looking to do this hike over two days.
